A P&ID can contain more than a graphical representation of a plant. Tag numbers, piping information and equipment data give the drawing a structured basis that can be used in later engineering tasks.

Visio-based P&ID solutions connect the familiar drawing workflow in Microsoft Visio with data-based engineering. Graphical elements become objects with properties and relationships, allowing information to be captured while the drawing is being created.

Using engineering data beyond the drawing

When information is recorded in a structured form, it can be reused for lists, reports and documentation. This reduces manual transfers and helps make changes and the associated engineering information traceable.

  • Capture tag numbers, piping and equipment data during P&ID creation
  • Reuse information consistently across engineering tasks
  • Generate lists, reports and documentation from existing data
  • Use P&ID data as a basis for further engineering steps, including 3D planning
